The Mahāsāṃghika Vinaya states: "If someone has contributed labor to planting fruit trees on saṃgha land, whether it is one tree or an entire orchard, it is permitted to give them one harvest; they cannot take it all at once, but take one branch per year, stopping when all branches have been covered; if they plant melons or vegetables, give them one harvest cut." The Pañcavargika Vinaya states: "If the monthly duty supervisor of food wishes to know whether it is raw or cooked, salty or sour, he may taste it with his tongue from the palm of his hand. If laypeople enter the monastery, saṃgha bedding may be lent to them for use. The saṃgha has five kinds of property that must not be sold or divided: first, land; second, rooms and buildings; third, necessary utensils; fourth, fruit trees; fifth, flowers and fruits." The Mahāsāṃghika Vinaya states: "Regarding the fields and lands of the saṃgha, even if the entire saṃgha convenes, they must not be sold, nor lent to others; if used privately, it is a vinayātikrama (and if damage or expense is caused, calculate the value of the goods and it constitutes a grave offense). If the gardens and fields are good and evil people encroach upon them, tell the original donor, leaving it to them to exchange them; the same applies to saṃgha beds and bedding." The Dharmaguptaka Vinaya states: "Selling or dividing saṃgha property for one's own possession constitutes a thullaccaya."
