3.413

《五分》：若罰沙彌，先語其師；師亦不應非法助沙彌。若治罰，應作種種苦使，掃地、除糞、摙石治階道。若不為和尚、闍梨及餘人作使，應語如法供給和尚、眾僧作使，次至應作。不應遮不與僧中利養，此是施主物。《四分》：從大比丘下，次第與沙彌房舍、臥具；若不能愛護，不應與。若利養，隨次與之。

The *Pañcavargika* states: If one punishes a śrāmaṇera, one must first inform his master; the master should also not un-Dharmically assist the śrāmaṇera. If punishing him, one should make him perform various menial tasks: sweeping the ground, removing excrement, and hauling stones to repair steps and paths. If he does not perform services for the upādhyāya, ācārya, or others, one should instruct him to properly serve the upādhyāya and the communal saṃgha with labor, doing it when his turn arrives. One must not obstruct and withhold his share of gains and provisions within the saṃgha; these are the property of donors. The *Dharmaguptaka* states: From the great bhikṣus down, rooms and bedding are assigned in succession to the śrāmaṇeras; if they cannot care for and protect them, they should not be given. Gains and provisions should be distributed to them in sequential order.
