四明安居法。大同僧中。尼無獨住，必依大僧。律云：不依犯墮。《僧祇》：若親里請尼安居者，先教請比丘；不肯者，不得受請。餘如彼說。《善見》云：尼去比丘住處半由旬，得安居，過者不得。一切僧尼，二時集會；夏初請法，夏竟說證。若檀越為請比丘來，而尼結安居竟，乃至後夏初，比丘有緣事不來，當更請比丘來；若不得，應去；路有難事，得安居。若初安居竟，比丘有緣去，尼後方知；已結安居者，不得移，住無罪。若夏竟，不得無比丘自恣，應覓。《僧祇》：雖在一比丘處，半月應請問布薩；卒無者，三由旬內有僧處，通結取。

Fourth, explaining the method of the rains retreat. It is largely the same as among the monks. A nun does not dwell alone; she must rely on the great monks. The Vinaya states: Not relying on them constitutes an offense of pāyattika. The *Mahāsāṃghika* states: "If relatives invite a nun for the rains retreat, she must first instruct them to invite the bhikṣus; if they are unwilling, she must not accept the invitation." The rest is as stated there. The *Sudarsana* states: "If a nun is within half a yojana of a bhikṣu's dwelling place, she may take up the rains retreat; if exceeding this, she may not. All monks and nuns gather at two times: at the beginning of the rains they request the teaching, and at the end of the rains they explain their realization." If a dānapati invited bhikṣus for their sake, and the nuns have already concluded demarcating the rains retreat, yet right up to the beginning of the latter rains the bhikṣus do not come due to obstructive matters, they should invite bhikṣus again; if they cannot be obtained, they should leave; if there are difficulties on the road, they may remain in the rains retreat. If the initial rains retreat has been concluded, and the bhikṣus leave due to circumstances without the nuns knowing until later: for those who have already demarcated the rains retreat, they must not move, and dwelling there is without offense. If the rains has ended, they must not perform pravāraṇā without bhikṣus; they should seek them. The *Mahāsāṃghika* states: Even if at the residence of a single bhikṣu, every half month they should inquire about upoṣadha; if none is suddenly available, any place where there are monks within three yojanas may be joined and included.
