Fifth, the pravāraṇā method. The *Dharmaguptaka* states: When the nuns have concluded the rains retreat, it is permitted to delegate one bhikṣuṇī to go among the great monks on behalf of the community of nuns to declare pravāraṇā. She should be delegated through a jñaptidvitīyā-karman, the text being as usual, and delegate two or three people as companions. Going among the great monks, having paid homage at their feet, she bows her body, lowers her head, joins her palms, and speaks thus: "The bhikṣuṇī-saṃgha has completed the rains retreat, and the bhikṣu-saṃgha has completed the rains retreat. The bhikṣuṇī-saṃgha declares pravāraṇā in three matters: what is seen, what is heard, and what is suspected. May the Venerable Ones, out of compassion, speak to me; if I see an offense, I shall confess it according to the Dharma (spoken three times; the elder among the monks delivers instructions, as in the chapter on Pravāraṇā above)." That nun, having received the instruction, on the following day when the nuns perform pravāraṇā, strikes the wooden sounding-block; when the nuns' saṃgha has assembled, as in the previous instruction, she announces to the nuns' saṃgha and conveys the words spoken by the great monks at the time of pravāraṇā, down to all the nuns receiving it atop their heads; following the method of pravāraṇā of the great monks above, they then disperse.
