The Pañcavargika-vinaya states: Three bhikṣuṇīs should be dispatched to come before the saṃgha for pravāraṇā. The Madhyama-āgama states: In the eight gurudharmas, only if a bhikṣu permits a bhikṣuṇī to ask about the sutras, vinaya, and abhidharma may she then ask; if he does not permit it, she violates the fifth gurudharma. The Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya states: When a bhikṣuṇī enters a monastery of monks, she should bow her head and face to salute the feet of each bhikṣu one by one; if old and sick and unable to bear it, she does so according to her strength; if not all are reached, she bows collectively, stating orally: "I, the bhikṣuṇī so-and-so, bow my head and face to salute the feet of the entire saṃgha." If a bhikṣu enters a nunnery, the bhikṣuṇī's salutation is also like this. She must not say: "This one has violated the precepts; this one is a physician; this one is a mahallaka who knows nothing," nor speak of false or true offenses. A bhikṣu is permitted to speak of a bhikṣuṇī's true offenses. If a bhikṣuṇī, through arrogance, does not respectfully rise to greet and salute his feet, she transgresses the dharmas of respect. The Daśādhyāya-vinaya states: Seeing a great monk and not rising is a pāyattika. The Pañcavargika-vinaya is also like this.
