3.91

五畜生者。《毘尼母》云：駝馬驢等，與寺中常住僧運致。若私有小寺、園果、堂房、瓶盆之屬，養生之具，此現前不得分，屬四方僧。何者名養生之具？人畜所須。非養生具者，非人畜所須也。

Fifth: domestic animals. The Vinayamātṛkā states: camels, horses, donkeys, and the like are given to the permanent resident saṃgha of the monastery for transport. If [the deceased] privately owned a small monastery, orchard, hall, room, bottles, basins, and the like—implements for sustaining life—these may not be distributed among the present [assembly], but belong to the cāturdiśa-saṃgha. What are called implements for sustaining life? Things needed by humans and domestic animals. Those that are not implements for sustaining life are things not needed by humans and domestic animals.
