Precept 47: Exceeding acceptance of a four-month invitation for medicine. Six conditions: first, it is an invitation for medicine; second, the dānapati sets a limit; third, knowing the limit; fourth, accepting in excess; fifth, without reason; sixth, eating constitutes the offense. In the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya: Spring, summer, or winter, exceeding [the limit] is in all cases an offense; or if for one month or half a month, one must not exceed it further. Non-offenses in the Vinaya: Excluding the four conditions, as in the Prātimokṣa. Exceeding the medicine limit is a pāyattika; exceeding the night limit is a duṣkṛta.
