In miscellaneous categories, the characteristics of the persons are first listed. The 'three types of madness' generally refers to mental disturbance, illness, and derangement. One must exclude those of the lowest grade and those of the intermediate grade who have not attained the Dharma. The passage beginning 'Or...' explains the reason why they are not a separate assembly. The upper phrase corresponds to the thirteen unordainable conditions. The next phrase corresponds to the three suspensions. 'Physical difference' corresponds to nuns and the like. 'Śrāmaṇeras' have not completed the Dharma; the text omits this phrase, but the Commentary provides it fully. 'Illness and karmic retribution' corresponds to the three types of madness, the mute, and the deaf. The phrase beginning 'Conditions...' encompasses the above four. 'Allowed' means that separation is permitted. The passage beginning 'In general...' gives a comprehensive judgment. The phrase 'not yet discussed' uses 'not yet' in the sense of 'not'. 'Making up' refers to making up the quorum; 'separate' refers to a separate assembly. Because the various persons above are not included in the two categories, and this section originally explains non-separation, yet their personal marks do not differ from those who do not make up the quorum, they are also shown here. (If one says they are persons who make up the quorum or are separate, this discusses separate assemblies; how could it exclusively explain making up the quorum! Furthermore, the earlier citations regarding relinquishing precepts, receiving chanda, speaking of one's own accord, and so on, are all modeled on face-to-face rites; how could they be unaddressed?)
