In the evaluation of principle: First, it traces the intent of chanda. From 'Now...' onward reprimands their speaking together. From 'Five...' onward, it determines correctness according to the texts; the Mahīśāsaka and Mahāsāṃghika are those cited above. However, the former two passages both say 'in the saṅgha,' which means before the senior elder (sth怀ira). (Or there may be another clear text, like earlier in the Mahāsāṃghika where a sick bhikṣu personally enters the saṅgha to speak before the senior elder; in the Mahīśāsaka no text has yet been seen.) Below, it cites the Dharmaguptaka text on assembling the saṅgha. The resolution above is manifest. 'Mi' means 'even more.' However, the text and meaning cited above adopt the earlier speaking individually. Furthermore, according to the two Vinayas, it must be before the senior elder. Contemporary practice of speaking individually matches the present text quite well. However, doing so at the seat is still the same as the ancient view; though in principle harmless, it is feared to be not entirely optimal.
