第二食中，初科為二；初敘意。云大患者，欲界眾生，皆資摶食以存身命，不可闕故。慰問者，世尊凡見弟子，必先此問，證知事重。今下，二示非。別住即目僧寺。

In the second, on food, the first section has two parts: first, stating the purpose. Stating "great affliction" means that sentient beings of the desire realm all rely on morsel food to preserve physical life, and it cannot be lacked. Regarding "inquiries of consolation," whenever the World-Honoured One saw disciples, he would always ask this first, proving that this matter is weighty. From "now" onward, the second shows improper behavior. "Separate dwelling" designates a monastery.
