次安置中，初示坐處。在僧下者，壇場界廣，準此可知；今時壇窄，故出界外。乃下，明說相。不必戒師者，此示古非；《疏》云：有人行事，十人登壇，隨人說相，一一誡語；今解羯磨加法，隨緣至三，示相誨約，任時前後，不專局也。

Next, under seating: first, showing the seat. "Below the saṃgha": the boundary of the platform grounds was wide, which can be understood according to this; nowadays the platforms are narrow, so one goes outside the boundary. Below "nai" (then), the exposition of the marks is clarified. "It does not have to be the precept master": this shows the error of the ancients. The Commentary says: "Some practitioners, when ten people ascend the platform, expound the marks according to each person, giving admonitions to every single one. Now we understand that the empowerment of the karmavācanā can extend up to three according to conditions, while showing the marks and giving admonitions may be before or after at will, not strictly restricted."
