Regarding the two categories in other schools, the seventh is based on the Daśādhyāya-vinaya. The text speaks of the upādhyāya because the meaning of dependance is the same. As [one] resides according to places where there is food, the distance is not fixed. The fear of not obtaining [food] is because there is still no food. Two and a half yojanas make a total of one hundred li. 'Pravāraṇā' refers to coming just once at the end of the summer, because they are extremely far apart. 'One by one' summarizes the near and far places above. Although one goes to see [the teacher], because they are not in the same boundary, the dependance is not constituted; hence it is included among the conditions for exception. In the eighth: in the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya, there is no one to provide dependance; taking in another would harm oneself, so [they do not do so] out of cherishing their own practice of the Path. Relying on another merely in one's personal mind also does not constitute the legal procedure; it is the same as not taking dependance.
