須依中，初七人。上四明師闕，次二弟子有緣，並須即求依止。後一未過教限。言勝緣者，別選人處。

Among those who must take dependance, there are initially seven persons. The first four explain deficiencies on the part of the master, and the next two concern conditions involving the disciple; all of them must immediately seek dependance. The last one has not yet passed the limit set by the teaching. The phrase 'superior conditions' refers to specially selecting a person and a place.
