《五百問》中。今時末法，多有斯事。雖欲從他，抑遏打罵。故令晚進白首面牆。法墜於時，率由斯致；必負高識，無枉自他。

In the Five Hundred Questions: in the present age of the Final Dharma, there are many such cases. Even though [a disciple] wishes to follow another, [the master] suppresses, beats, and scolds him. This causes junior monks to grow old facing the wall in ignorance. That the Dharma has fallen into decline in our time is generally due to this; one who possesses high discernment must not wrong oneself and others.
