十六。（佛在舍衛，六群十七群同道行，至無住處，十七群求得住處；六群知，強於中間敷臥具宿，故制。）

Sixteen. (The Buddha was in Śrāvastī; the group of six and the group of seventeen were traveling the road together and reached a place without lodgings; the group of seventeen sought and found a lodging; the group of six knew this and forcibly spread their bedding between them to lodge, hence it was instituted.)
