In the explanation, the Vinaya text is divided into three: first, it explains 'between'. Measuring by the four sides of the body explains its cramped tightness and lack of accommodation; because if the space is wide and not obstructive, an exception allows it without offense. Next, it explains the bedding. It lists four kinds for now; other items may be known by analogy. Under 'If...', third, it clarifies the offense in terms of intention. An exception is made for not knowing. In the Daśādhyāya-vinaya: having spread it between them, they also did many things to vex the others with the intent to make them avoid them and leave, so offenses are assigned according to each matter. It temporarily lists eight kinds, which do not go beyond sound and form. The phrase 'following others' broadly encompasses everything.
