In "Miscellaneous Marks": first, "it is also said" anticipates the meaning of the treatise; or alternatively, it may adduce the preceding ordination conditions. From "the five and eight precepts" downward, both abbreviate the words concerning breaking the serious [precepts]; hence it says "up to the ten precepts," etc. Second, citing the treatise to demonstrate: it clarifies that among the six types of precepts, as soon as one violates one serious [precept], one is entirely cut off from the rest. In the text, it fully enumerates the five precepts and abbreviates the rest; hence it says "up to," etc. The character "eight" (八) is a scribal error; according to the treatise, it should be "ten precepts" (十戒), which skips over the eight precepts. "Cannot [be received] as before" is the same as the five precepts above.
