The next section: citing two sūtras together, because their text and principles are identical. First, it shows that it is difficult to protect. Saṃgha property has owners; using and giving it involves many faults, and therefore it is difficult to manage; the Buddha-Dharma has no owner, and using and giving depend on people, which is again difficult. From "My..." onward, it screens persons, first screening noble persons. The text mentions the first and the last [fruits]; why does it not clarify the second and third fruits? Perhaps because they can be known, or in terms of the point where the two delusions are fully exhausted. From "Furthermore..." onward, next it screens ordinary persons: the former person knows the cause; the latter person fears the fruit; or perhaps the former screens meticulous maintenance, while the latter allows for repentance upon violation. "Without sores or warts" is a metaphor for being able to stay free of faults.
