The fifth, "Removal from the Location": in the explanation, the first section shows that under the Dharmaguptaka-vinaya, if it is not removed, it does not constitute an offense. Below, the Mahīśāsaka-vinaya is cited to show that only when it is already removed is it constituted. The text lists five offenses; the one pāyattika for digging the earth may or may not apply, while the other four must be present, as they are preparatory stages. The duṣkṛta of the mind of theft is the distant preparatory stage. The pāyattika for digging the earth refers to virgin soil (in the Samantapāsādikā it is a duṣkṛta, because it is a preparatory stage of theft). The duṣkṛta for grasping the object is the secondary preparatory stage (according to the current judgment, it incurs a sthūlātyaya). Moving the object is the proximate preparatory stage; it can be understood.
