In the concluding rebuke, first it concludes and indicates. 'Now...' below rebukes the error. The Commentary states: 'If one says that the monastery belongs to the laity, then one claims it is another's pure ground (citing their assertion); all monastic residences would not belong to the religious community; theft and damage within them would be prosecuted with reference to the laity, up to the point that within the Buddha's Dharma none would have merit (refuting and breaking the claim).' When property has no owner, it belongs to whoever it is offered to; how could it still remain the old dānapati's pure ground? 'Ten...' below cites evidence. First, it cites the Daśādhyāya-vinaya to prove that belonging to an owner constitutes purity. 'A bhikṣu going up to the threshing floor' means the threshing floor is within the monastic boundary, and rice is stored in it. Next, it cites the Mahāsāṃghika-vinaya to prove that belonging to the sangha does not constitute purity. Contemplating these scriptural standards is sufficient to reveal the illegitimacy.
