In the third section, first the measure taught in the scriptures is specified. From "The Vinaya" onward, it separately refutes illegality, which also has two parts: first, it prevents erroneous attachments, where the previous part cites what they rely on. The *Karma Commentary* says: "Some say that the Vinaya regulates eating according to the capacity of the belly, so how could there be a fixed measure? As long as one receives it, it becomes valid, and one does not necessarily have to follow the treatises." This does not single out the ancients, but straightforwardly prevents it. From "The word" onward, it directly refutes it. The upper sentence is a concession; the lower sentence is a refutation. From "The world" onward, it next refutes grasping at a small bowl. The designation "illegal" is due to violating the scriptural measure, because it must be in accordance with the Dharma to be fit for receiving purification.
