In the third, it first explains that conforming to the regulations possesses spiritual efficacy. In the note, it refers to the aforementioned Changgan image at Xingshan Temple encountering thieves, the circumstances of which are fully as noted. Furthermore, the Records of Sages and Worthies states: during the Sui period, when the Buddha hall of Xinghuang Temple in Jiangzhou was burned down, there was a sixteen-foot bronze image standing right under the main ridgepole; when the fire broke out and the ridgepole fell, the image moved five or six feet to the south by itself; ash and charcoal were five or six feet away on all four sides, with hardly a speck of dust touching it; later, when at Baima Temple, birds and sparrows did not violate it; these were all brought about because their fashioning and erecting had the proper regulations. Below, 'merely' next explains that utmost sincerity moves the holy.
