In the fourth [heading], it first prohibits arriving late. Arriving late intentionally means presuming on one's own high status with the intention of causing a stir in the assembly. Nowadays this is common; upon hearing this, one must be strictly warned. If one can merely harbor virtue within, it will naturally cause others to show respect; how could it be that petty calculation alone constitutes glory? Though one may deceive the ignorant, one actually incurs the ridicule of the discerning. From 'Also...' onward, the second permits not rising: even if it is a senior elder, it is inappropriate. From 'If...' onward, the third explains saving a seat: this refers to cases where one knows another has a valid reason and has not yet arrived.
