In the fourth section, the first text: first, asking about the places for the Dharma and food. 'Furthermore...' onwards next inquires about material requisites, of which there are six: Saṃgha-appointed turns refers to turns assigned by the Saṃgha; dānapatis sending food refers to bringing it into the monastery; the eighth and fifteenth of the month refer to the six poṣadha days, when people often prepare offerings (the Karma Commentary states: 'Both the black and white [halves of the month] have three days; the text merely lacks the fourteenth'); the beginning of the month is revered in that country, and they also prepare many [offerings]; dānapatis' invitations refers to individual invitations (the old explanation taking it as Saṃgha-appointed turns is incorrect). Third, asking about people and livestock: these are all based on lay households.
