持刀與人，歎譽死，快勸死「咄，男子！用此惡活為？寧死不生！」，作如是心思惟，種種方便，歎譽死，快勸死，是比丘波羅夷，

"or brings a weapon and gives it to a person, or praises death, or eagerly encourages death, saying: 'O man, what use is this wretched life to you? Death is better than life!', thinking such thoughts in mind, through various expedient means praising death and eagerly encouraging death: this bhikṣu is defeated (pārājika),"
