「大德僧聽！此某甲，從和尚某甲，求受具足戒。此某甲，今從眾僧乞受具足戒，某甲為和尚。某甲自說清淨，無諸難事，年滿二十，三衣鉢具。僧今授某甲具足戒，某甲為和尚。誰諸長老忍『僧與某甲授具足戒，某甲為和尚』者默然，誰不忍者說。是初羯磨。」（第二、第三亦如上。）

"Bhadantas, may the saṃgha listen! This N.N. seeks to receive the upasampadā from the upādhyāya N.N. This N.N. now requests the upasampadā from the assembly of the saṃgha, with N.N. as upādhyāya. N.N. declares himself to be pure and free from all obstructive conditions, fully twenty years old, and equipped with the three robes and bowl. The saṃgha now confers the upasampadā upon N.N., with N.N. as upādhyāya. Whichever venerable ones approve that 'the saṃgha confers the upasampadā upon N.N., with N.N. as upādhyāya,' let them remain silent; whoever does not approve, let him speak. This is the first karman." (The second and third are also as above.)
