佛告比丘：「有十種法住世，令正法疾滅：有比丘無欲，鈍根，雖誦句義不能正受，又不解了，不能令受者有恭敬威儀，乃至不樂阿練若法，又不隨法教，不敬上座、無威儀者，令後生不學毘尼，致令放逸失諸善法，好作文頌莊嚴章句，樂世法故，正法疾滅，甚可怖畏。諸比丘應如是知善見。」

The Buddha addressed the bhikṣus: "There are ten phenomena abiding in the world that cause the true Dharma to be rapidly destroyed: there are bhikṣus who lack desire, are of dull faculties, and though reciting phrases and meanings cannot receive them correctly, nor do they understand them, being unable to inspire respectful deportment in those who receive them, up to not delighting in the practices of the araṇya, not following the instructions of the Dharma, not respecting theras, and lacking deportment, causing later generations not to study the vinaya, leading to heedlessness and the loss of all wholesome qualities, being fond of composing verses to adorn chapters and phrases, and delighting in worldly ways; therefore the true Dharma is rapidly destroyed, which is truly dreadful. You bhikṣus should understand this and see it clearly."
