善男子聽！如來、至真、等正覺說四依法，比丘依此得出家受具足，成比丘法。依糞掃衣，比丘依此得出家受具足，成比丘法。汝是中盡形壽能持不？（答言：）能。

"Good man, listen! The Tathāgata, the Truly Real One, the Equanimous and Correctly Awakened One, taught the four reliances, relying upon which a bhikṣu is able to go forth, receive upasampadā, and fulfill the bhikṣu-dharma. Relying upon rags from the dust heap—relying upon this, a bhikṣu is able to go forth, receive upasampadā, and fulfill the bhikṣu-dharma. In this can you maintain it for the rest of your life?" (He answers, saying:) "I can."
