大德僧聽！我某甲比丘，求眾僧乞度人授具足戒，願僧聽我某甲比丘度人授具足戒。（三說。）（僧當觀察此人，若不堪能教授及不能二法攝取者，當語言「止！勿度人」。若有智慧堪能教授及二法攝取者，應如是與法。）

"May the venerable saṃgha listen! I, the bhikṣu named so-and-so, seek and request from the assembly of the saṃgha permission to ordain people and confer the upasampadā. May the saṃgha allow me, the bhikṣu named so-and-so, to ordain people and confer the upasampadā." (Spoken three times.) (The saṃgha should examine this person. If he is not capable of instructing and not able to sustain [others] through the two dharmas, they should speak to him, saying: 'Stop! Do not ordain people.' If he has wisdom, is capable of instructing, and is able to sustain through the two dharmas, they should grant him the procedure like this:)
