持律人有五功德：戒品堅牢，善勝諸怨，於眾中決斷無畏，若有疑悔者能開解，善持毘尼令正法久住。

A person who upholds the Vinaya has five virtues: having solid and firm moral discipline; being well able to overcome all adversaries; deciding without fear among the assembly; being able to clarify and resolve the doubts and regrets of others, if any; and upholding the Vinaya well so as to make the true Dharma abide for a long time.
