持律人有五功德：戒品堅牢，善勝諸怨，於眾中決斷無畏，若有疑悔能開解，善持毘尼令正法久住。
A vinayadhara possesses five merits: firmness in the category of śīla, being skilled at overcoming all adversaries, decisiveness without fear amidst the assembly, being able to resolve doubts and regrets if any arise, and upholding the vinaya well so as to cause the true Dharma to abide long.
