與不癡毘尼法（時有比丘癡狂心亂，多犯眾罪，非沙門法，言無齊限，行來出入不順威儀。後還得心時，諸比丘言：「犯重罪波羅夷、僧伽婆尸沙。」問言：「汝憶犯重罪不？」彼即答言：「我先癡狂心亂時多犯眾罪，非我故作，是狂癡耳。諸長老不須數見難詰。」諸比丘故難詰不止。佛言：「聽僧與作不癡毘尼白四羯磨。」乞作如文。）

Procedure for granting the Not-Insane Vinaya (amūḍha-vinaya): (At that time, there was a bhikṣu who had become insane and mentally deranged, committing many offenses contrary to the standard of a śramaṇa, speaking without restraint, and coming and going without observing decorum. Later, when he regained his sanity, the bhikṣus said: "He has committed the grave offenses of pārājika and saṃghāvaśeṣa." They questioned him, saying: "Do you remember committing a grave offense or not?" He then answered, saying: "Previously, when I was insane and mentally deranged, I committed many offenses; it was not done intentionally by me, but was merely due to my madness. Venerables, there is no need to repeatedly cross-examine me." The bhikṣus nonetheless persisted in cross-examining him without ceasing. The Buddha said: "I allow the saṃgha to perform a jñapticaturtha-karman of the Not-Insane Vinaya for him." The petition and enactment are as in the text.)
