"If you say relative, coarse and subtle would not be established": this objection is not correct. Because of the difference in perspective, coarse and subtle are established. Just like father and son, or the truths of suffering and origin, etc., although it is a single thing, depending on what it is viewed against, it obtains the names "father", "son", "truth of suffering", "truth of origin", and so forth. Question: Coarse and subtle are established relatively by viewing a single dharma as coarse or subtle. Could long and short also be established relatively by comparing a single substance? Explanation: The matter base distinguishes differences, and long and short have separate substances; coarse and subtle apply across all five skandhas, and cannot be analogized to long and short.
