[On the phrase,] "However, saying that repeated practice [...] increasingly intensifies": Above, the four proofs of the Vinaya masters were resolved; now, the difficulty concerning falling into the wretched destinies is also resolved. Thus Nyāyānusāra 38 states: "Some say: Because the sūtra says that repeated practice can cause one to fall into the wretched destinies, just like killing living beings and so forth, drinking various liquors is subsumed under natural offenses." Therefore, it is now resolved by saying: When the sūtra says that repeated practice causes one to fall into the wretched destinies, it reveals that drinking liquor repeatedly can cause unwholesome dharmas to operate in continuous succession within the body, thereby leading one to fall into the wretched destinies; or it can engender karma of the wretched destinies, thereby leading one to fall into the wretched destinies; or it can cause that karma of the wretched destinies already generated to increasingly intensify. Falling into the wretched destinies is due to karma initiated through liquor that produces retribution in the wretched destinies; in truth, drinking liquor does not by itself bring about the wretched destinies. Furthermore, the Nyāyānusāra states: "It is also seen to be said that cutting living grass and the like causes one to fall into the wretched destinies; hence this cannot prove that drinking various liquors is subsumed under natural offenses." This is explained at length as stated there.
