Regarding "False speech and so forth ... preparations are born from delusion": This clarifies that the preparations of the four vocal paths of action are born from the three roots. All preparations of the four vocal paths of action born from covetousness and malice should be explained analogously to the previous. The Nyāyānusāra states: "That false speech and so forth are born from covetousness is, for example, initiating the four preparations for the sake of material profit, respect, renown, and rescuing oneself and relatives. That they are born from malice is, for example, initiating the four preparations to eliminate enemies, vent fury, or out of a resentful mind (end of treatise passage)." Specifically explaining that the four vocal [paths] are born from delusion: as for all preparations of false speech born from delusion, as non-Buddhist treatises state: if a person speaks falsely either for joke, or for marrying off a daughter, or for taking a wife, or before a courtesan, or before a king, or to save life, or to save property, it is entirely without fault. Furthermore, because of wrong view, initiating false speech, initiating divisive speech, initiating harsh speech, and initiating frivolous speech—all such preparations should be known as completely born from delusion. The explanation of wrong view being called born of delusion is also interpreted analogously to the previous. Furthermore, "Vedas" is translated here as "clarity" (ming); the old [transcription] "Weituo" was an error. That is, studying and transmitting the treatises of the four Vedas and all other heretical treatises of non-Buddhists, asserting that they are without fault. All these are subsumed under frivolous speech, and all their preparations are born from delusion. The above has clarified that all preparations of the seven unwholesome paths of action are born from the three roots.
