「如是施主至或果全無」者，釋第一句。如是施主雖於惡田，而益他心殖諸施種，但招愛果不招非愛。此顯施種能招愛果，非由惡田種果有倒。然由田過，令所植種或生果少，如施凡人等；或果全無，如施極劣諸外道等。

"Thus the donor ... or no fruit at all": this explains the first line. Thus, although the donor plants the seeds of giving with a mind to benefit others even in a bad field, they only bring about a desirable fruit and not an undesirable one. This shows that the seed of giving can bring about a desirable fruit, and that the seed and fruit are not inverted due to a bad field. However, through the defect of the field, the planted seed may produce a small fruit, as when giving to ordinary worldlings; or no fruit at all, as when giving to the most inferior non-Buddhists.
