Regarding "'Sat' because of perishing... only then does one grasp a self": The Sautrāntika master's explanation. It is called 'sat' because of perishing (sat-kāya); 'kāya' means an aggregation, and kāya is termed 'body'. Perishing has the meaning of impermanence; aggregation has the meaning of the combined skandhas. The kāya itself is sat, hence termed satkāya; this is a karmadhāraya compound. This satkāya is just the five clinging aggregates (upādānaskandha); the name 'sat' is established to refute the idea of permanence, and the name 'kāya' is established to refute the idea of a singular entity. It requires these ideas of permanence and oneness as prerequisites, after which one subsequently grasps a self. The view of satkāya is called satkāyadṛṣṭi; this is a tatpuruṣa compound.
