「若爾眼根至應名能識」者，眼見家難。眼是見依，說眼能見。眼是識依，說眼能識。

"If so, then the visual organ […] should be called that which cognizes" is the objection by the proponent of the eye seeing. If the eye is the support of seeing and one says the eye is able to see, then since the eye is the support of consciousness, one should say the eye is able to cognize.
