Regarding 'One who enters parinirvāṇa without activity... path of swift progress': 'one who enters parinirvāṇa without activity' (anabhisaṃskāra-parinirvāyin) means that one dies in the desire realm and goes toward the form realm, and after being born, through passing a long time in lax preparatory practice, without much exertion, directly enters parinirvāṇa with remainder. Because they lack both paths of diligent cultivation and swift progress, they are called 'without activity'. 'Having been born' distinguishes them from the intermediate parinirvāṇa. 'Passing a long time' distinguishes them from the birth parinirvāṇa. 'Lacking diligent cultivation' distinguishes them from the active type.
