27.95

「修神境等至不依無色」者，次明修餘三通加行。修神境等前三通時，神境思輕以為加行，天眼思光以為加行，天耳思聲以為加行，成已自在隨所應為。無色界中無斯色故，故此五通不依無色。

On the passage beginning with "When cultivating psychic power and the others" up to "do not rely upon the formless": Next, this clarifies the preparatory application for cultivating the other three supernormal knowledges. When cultivating the first three supernormal knowledges—psychic power and the others—one takes contemplation of lightness as the preparatory application for psychic power, contemplation of light as the preparatory application for the divine eye, and contemplation of sound as the preparatory application for the divine ear; when accomplished, one has mastery to act as appropriate. Since in the formless realm there is no such matter, these five supernormal knowledges do not rely upon the formless.
