「若爾最後位至應能了義」者，經部難。既最後位聲乃生名，是即此名唯居後念。前位未來，但聞最後聲應能了義。

On "If so, then at the final stage... one should comprehend the meaning": this is the Sautrāntika's objection. Since the sound at the final stage produces the word, this word exists only in the final moment. The preceding stages being in the future [relative to it], hearing only the final sound should allow comprehension of the meaning.
