「若作是執至不可集故」者，經部牒破。若作是執，我不說語能生名。謂語能生文，文復生名，名方顯義。此中過難，應同前說語生名失，以諸念文不可聚集，云何生名？亦無一名分分漸生，如何此名可由文生？

On "If this is maintained... because they cannot be gathered together": the Sautrāntika cites and refutes the opponent's view. If one maintains: "I do not say that speech can produce words; rather, speech can produce phonemes, phonemes then produce words, and words then reveal meanings." The error and objection here would be identical to the fault stated above regarding speech producing words: since the phonemes of successive moments cannot be gathered together, how could they produce words? Nor does a single word arise gradually part by part; how then could this word be produced by phonemes?
