13.85

論「又契經說至便成無用」，第五證也。經說法處內、外以分，謂是外處十二處分。是十一處所不攝法，若以有見無見以分，即是無見；若以有對無對以分，即是無對。色、無色以分，不言無色。若不以法處有無表色者，此言闕減便成無用，以彼簡法不周盡故。

On the treatise's statement, "Furthermore, the discourses say ... then it would be useless": this is the fifth proof. The discourse says that the dharma-base, divided into internal and external, is an external base among the divisions of the twelve bases. It consists of dharmas not subsumed under the [other] eleven bases; if divided into visible and invisible, it is invisible; if divided into obstructed and unobstructed, it is unobstructed. When divided into material and immaterial, it does not say "immaterial." If one did not maintain that there is non-informative matter in the dharma-base, this statement would be deficient and thus useless, because its qualification of dharmas would not be exhaustive.
