16.128

論「若有盜取至望守護者」，此兩釋中前解為勝。《正理論》云「有說：此罪於能護人，則彼自盜應無有罪。是故前說於理為勝。」《婆沙》一百一十三多解，評取佛處得罪。

[On the passage in the] treatise: 'If someone steals […] in relation to the protector': Between these two interpretations, the former explanation is superior. The Nyāyānusāra states: 'Some say: This offense is [incurred] against the person capable of protecting it; in that case, if that person steals it himself, there should be no offense. Therefore, the former statement is logically superior.' Fascicle 113 of the Vibhāṣā presents many explanations and, evaluating them, takes [the view that] the offense is incurred against the Buddha.
