On the Śāstra's statement, 'Acquisition also lacks the power... because it is not a single result': This explains acquisition. Fascicle 19 of the Vibhāṣā says: 'Question: What maturation fruit do acquisitions experience? Answer: Acquisitions experience the maturation fruits of form, mind, mental factors, and formations non-associated with mind. "Form" refers to visible form, odor, taste, and tangible objects—not the five physical sense faculties, because those are the fruits of karma. "Mind and mental factors" refers to painful feeling, pleasant feeling, neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling, and the dharmas associated with them. "Formations non-associated with mind" refers to acquisitions, birth, aging, duration, and impermanence.' It also says: 'Question: When agents perform karma, do they first perform the karma that projects the generic similarity, or do they perform the karma that completes the generic similarity? It is said: This is not fixed. Some first perform the projecting karma and later perform the completing karma; some first perform the completing karma and later perform the projecting karma, arising according to the intention of the agent.'
