On the Śāstra's words, "Toward what has not yet been realized ... is called pride of superiority (abhimāna)": The *Nyāyānusāra* says: "Regarding superior attainments such as stages, paths, and abandonments that have not yet been realized, deeming that one has already realized them is called pride of superiority. What difference in meaning is there between the words 'unobtained' and 'obtained'? Because the former acquisition (prāpti) and the later acquisition do not differ in meaning. These words are used to show the acquisition of unobtained virtues; that there is an acquisition after an acquisition is accepted by our school." The commentary explains: An acquisition after an acquisition refers to the acquisition of the acquisition of a virtue.
