論「滅道法智至相應有八」，釋滅、道法智八行皆能斷非想惑所以。緣下滅、道斷上惑者，緣下滅、道勝上地故。

The Śāstra says: "The dharma knowledges of cessation and the path […] there are eight associated [aspects]." This explains the reason why the eight aspects of the dharma knowledges of cessation and the path can all abandon the defilements of neither-perception-nor-non-perception. The reason taking lower cessation and paths abandons higher defilements is that lower cessation and paths are superior to higher stages.
