論「五前八至他心及盡」，五前者，時解脫中五種性也。前八解脫者，除第九以前八。行修與第九不同，故別明也。未來修八，除俗、無生。

Regarding the passage of the śāstra from “The first eight of the five” up to “another's mind and exhaustion”: “The five first” refers to the five lineages among those temporarily liberated. “The first eight liberation [paths]” refers to the eight prior to excluding the ninth. Because cultivation through activity differs from the ninth, they are explained separately. In the future, eight are cultivated, excluding conventional [knowledge] and [knowledge of] non-arising.
