論「若謂尋伺至為喻不成」，牒有部難也。夫為喻之法，兩宗共許方可成喻。我宗不許二前後起，為喻不成。

On the Śāstra's phrase: "If it is said that vitarka and vicāra [...] it fails as an example": this cites the Sarvāstivādin's objection. In the method of formulating an example, it can only succeed as an example when accepted in common by both schools. Our school does not accept that the two arise sequentially; hence it fails as an example.
