The Śāstra's [words] from "Wishlessness-wishlessness" up to "for the sake of loathing and abandoning" explain the second. The Nyāyānusāra says: "The repetitive wishlessness samādhi arises after the aspect of impermanence, and immediately associates again with the aspect of impermanence, because this alone can take the Path as object with loathing. The aspect of suffering cannot take the noble path as object: the noble path is not suffering, because it leads to the cessation of suffering, and suffering phenomena cannot lead to the pacification and cessation of suffering. Nor can the four [aspects of] cause and so forth take the noble path as object, because the noble path cannot cause suffering to continue. Nor do the four [aspects of] the path and so forth apply, because this is loathing and abandoning the Path. An aspect that takes joyful pursuit cannot serve to loathe and abandon. Would it not be that, just as the wishless [samādhi] does not wish for the noble path yet produces the four [aspects of] the path and so forth, this should also be the case here? This parallel does not hold: the wishless [samādhi] primarily loathes existence, and concurrently generates a non-wishing mind toward the noble path. That is, the preceding wishless [samādhi] primarily loathes existence; because the noble path depends on existence, it concurrently does not wish for it. Although it is said to not wish for the Path in view of its intention, it does not primarily detest and loathe the noble path, and therefore can also produce the four kinds [of aspects of] the path and so forth. Wishlessness-wishlessness primarily detests and loathes the Path; therefore, through impermanence, it contemplates the faults of the Path. The aspects of the path and so forth have no room to loathe the Path; therefore, here, one does not produce those four." (End of citation from the Śāstra).
